UPDATE: Steelers sign Michael Vick

Agh I hope not. Not a fan of his in both talent and as a person. We may need a back up though so there's some validity. That said, I do wish there was a better option out there with Gradkowski hurt.

Just think how many heads are gonna explode when Tomlin names Landry Jones #2 and Vick #3.  

Jones knows the playbook. Vick does not... which gives LJ the advantage.

So Vick bulked up in the offseason and is insurance at center in case the Legursky signing does not work out?

Maybe Vick also can return kicks if the Steelers admit they wasted a third round pick on Dri?

Gradkowski will only be out for a few weeks... he shouldn't go on IR. Vick... most likely, would never take a snap in a regular season game for the Steelers. Steelers will release Vick when Gradkowski is healthy.

I don't see the problem with bringing Vick in. He's clearly the best available veteran QB.

Worst Case scenario. Roethlisberger goes down, it doesn't really matter who takes over as the #2, I
d feel comfortable with Grad, he will be back. No need to sign Vick.

You're right this shouldn't be a discussion but neither should keeping Landry Jones around be a discussion yet here we are lol

I have a feeling [not based on anything] that the Steelers are just kicking the tires on this one.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came to town, had a quick chat with management, and left town without a contract. Might be just to gauge interest in (hopefully) a vet. minimum contract.

What happens if Landry goes down in the remaining 2 games? He did injure his hand in the GB game, but didn't miss time cause of it. Gotta have someone there just in case.

i think playing with something other than 4th and 5th string back ups could take alot of stink off landry jones.

we need someone other than ben and landry jones to get us through the next 2 preseason games. current odds and probabilities say one of them is going to suffer a six week injury leaving us with 1 qb going into week 1.

Or Ben plays a few series and Landry Jones see's a lot of snaps. I dont think it is necessary to be proactive in getting a 3rd quarterback. Ben is very durable, and in the case he DOES go down, the chances of Jones being injured in that same game is small. I think we can get away with finishing the preseason with Ben and Landry, and waiting the 4 weeks for Gradkowski gets back. I think jumping the gun and signing a quarterback, especially the one the likes with Michael Vick to be our #3 is just a knee-jerk panic reaction. Chances are Ben will stay healthy until Grad comes back. Ben hasnt missed a game in 2 seasons, IF he does go down then we can make a move to sign someone. But if ben goes down for any extended period of time, even Michael Vick wont salvage the season. As Ben goes so goes the Steelers. Our team is too built around Ben to win a SB without him so if he goes down, fuck it. Throw in the towel and give it another try next year.

If signed, Bruce will be headed to IR Imo.

No. I would lose a great amount of respect for the Steelers as an organization if they sign this piece of shit.
