| Good news! No major damage. He hopes to play this weekend.
On Monday, the Steelers received some good news with regard to DeAngelo Williams.
Per ESPN's Brittany McHenry, Williams' MRI revealed that there was "no fractures or major structural damage" to his right ankle, and that Williams is day to day while he continues to recover from the injury.
Williams, who amassed nearly 1,400 total yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 starts this season, injured his ankle during the first half of Sunday's game against the Browns. Williams, who was carted off the field and was seen with a boot on his right leg following the game, has enjoyed a career rebirth in Pittsburgh this season, after spending his first nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers.
Williams hopes to rejoin the Steelers (10-6) for Saturday's Wild Card Game against the Bengals (12-4) this Saturday night.

| The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has an "outside chance, albeit a small one" to play in Saturday's Wild Card Game against the Bengals.
Our main takeaway was that Williams seems doubtful to face Cincinnati at this early stage of the week. "His biggest issue could be a matter of pain tolerance," a source told the Post-Gazette. Added beat writer Gerry Dulac, the Steelers "intend to use Fitzgerald Toussaint, Jordan Todman and fullback Will Johnson against the Bengals." Dulac reported the Steelers believed Williams would've had a better chance had their Wild Card Game been scheduled for Sunday rather than Saturday.

| Rotate Toussaint and Todman. Todman may be better than Toussaint. We really don't know.
We're being counted out by most. I understand it but it's not like we don't have other weapons and it's not like a bad/missing run game can't be worked around.

"During his weekly press conference, Mike Tomlin took a moment to correct the media's diagnosis of DeAngelo Williams' injury.
While Williams' injury was initially reported as right ankle injury, Tomlin said that it's Williams' right foot--and not his ankle--that is technically the issue as Williams looks to recover in time to face the Bengals for Saturday's AFC Wild Card Game.
After suffering the injury during the first half of Sunday's win over the Browns, Williams was seen in a boot as he celebrated Pittsburgh's post season berth with his teammates. On Monday, an MRI reportedly revealed "no fractures or major structural damage" to Williams' right leg/foot, leaving the door open for his return to the field for Pittsburgh's playoff duel in Cincinnati.

| Four days after suffering a right foot injury, DeAngelo Williams is making strides in hopes of playing in Pittsburgh's Wild Card game against the Bengals.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Williams is "making progress" towards playing on Saturday, as he was reportedly walking around without a limp around the Steelers' practice facility on Thursday. Fowler also said that Williams is "working to get right for Saturday night in Cincinnati."
Fowler's report comes a day after Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network reported that Williams removed his boot on Wednesday afternoon, and was walking without a limp after wearing his boot earlier in the day. Williams was inactive during the team's Wednesday afternoon practice, as Fitzgerald Toussaint worked with Pittsburgh's first team offense.
Williams, 32, enjoyed a career rebirth after being released by the Carolina Panthers following the 2014 season. In 10 starts this season, Williams rushed for 907 yards (with a 4.5 yards per carry average) and 11 touchdowns while catching 40 passes for 367 yards.

The Cincinnati Bengals will officially be without quarterback Andy Dalton on Saturday night as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a wild-card playoff game. And the Steelers will be without a key player too, running back DeAngelo Williams.
The question then becomes, which injury will affect the wild-card playoff game more?
The Bengals ruled out Dalton, which isn't a big surprise. Dalton got the cast off his broken hand on Monday, and a recovery to play by Saturday was unrealistic. AJ McCarron will be the starting quarterback on Saturday night.
On Friday afternoon, the Steelers officially ruled out Williams, who has done a great job as their starter since Le'Veon Bell was lost for the season.
While McCarron has played pretty well in place of Dalton, the Steelers shouldn't go into Saturday's game with much confidence in their running back situation. Fitzgerald Toussaint, who has 24 career carries over two seasons for 54 yards, would likely replace Williams. Jordan Todman, a journeyman with a little more success than Toussaint over his career but has just four carries this season for Pittsburgh, is another option.
This seems similar to last year's Steelers wild-card game, when they had to play without Bell. Josh Harris and Ben Tate were thrown into the lineup, and neither played well. A one-dimensional Steelers offense lost 30-17 to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bengals can't be thrilled to have a quarterback who has just three career starts, but at least McCarron has played in big games before at Alabama. McCarron has been the Bengals quarterback since Dec. 13, when Dalton broke his thumb against the Steelers.
Neither team will be at full strength on Saturday night. We'll see which key injury has the biggest effect on the best playoff matchup of wild-card weekend.
