Ridder is an interesting prospect. he would have to have a monster year to get in to the 1st round.
True, but there was nobody else on the list that really caught my eye so that's a bit of a guess I suppose.
from what i have read , . he would need a CONSISTENT , solid season to be mentioned in the top round. it was noted he has made progress from year to year. who knows , maybe he balls out like trey lance and gets to the top of the board

Well he's off to a pretty good start in 2021. Against Miami (OH) he put up 295yds Passing with 4TDs and 1 INT. He also put up 31yds rushing and scored a rushing TD. So he accounted for 5TDs himself.
The next week against Murray State he was a little more pedestrian with 243yds Passing with 2TDs and 0 INTs. He did nothing rushing-wise in that game.
So in total he's got 538yds Passing with 6TDs and 1 INT and a handful of rushing yards with 1 Rushing TD.
Not too shabby, but not exactly Earth-shattering either. I am interested to see how he does against a higher quality opponent in Indiana this Saturday, and then against Notre Dame on Oct 2nd.

any pitt fans here ? just wondered if anyone has had an extended look at their QB kenny pickets. dude is having himself a nice year and is climbing the draft boards. so far he has looked as good as any other QB that will be in the 2022 draft. coming in to this year he has been about a 60% completion guy the last 3 years, and thought of as a day 3 pick with backup potential , but this year he is balling with a 72% and 10.8 yds per completion. looks like he's got good wheels, and sufficient arm strength. can anyone who has watched an entire pitt game comment on him ?

Looking into him, but we are unlikely to get the #1 QB prospect in the draft without a big costly trade.

Somebody asked Joe Starkey at Post Gazette about him. Here is his reply:
Quote :
I’m not exactly sure, Dr. Bob, but I know this: He’s plenty big enough, more than tough enough, can make all the throws and is plenty mobile. And he is rising fast.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler wondered about hand size (hey, the scouts look at everything; I’m just trying answer your question), and his evaluation went like this: “The stats are head-turning, but from an evaluation perspective, the tape might be even more impressive (the Georgia Tech film is the best quarterback tape I have studied so far this season). Pickett has now put himself in the Day 2 conversation as a prospect and is on a 'Kirk Cousins trajectory,’ according to one NFL scout.”
Yes, I know, a “Kirk Cousins trajectory” might not seem like the highest of compliments at the moment — but have you seen that guy’s career earnings?
I’m beginning to believe Pickett will be an NFL starter, and his biggest college games are ahead. Stay tuned.
Well, that's not as complimentary as it could be....but its really too early to tell how it all will shake out. By the time the draft is here, he could be a top 5 (or higher) QB pick. And with the QB-hungry league, that would put him out of reach.
Best case scenario is that about 5 QB's emerge, and you get to pick up one of them.

but as of right now he isnt the #1 prospect. i believe matt corrall is the consensus top dog. the QB rankings have really been shaken up since the beginning of the NCAA season. guys are rising and falling weekly. spencer rattler and sam howell , two of the pre season darlings are tanking their draft stock. i seen where one pundit called Howell baker mayfield lite...

picket is being penalized for his past. his last 3 years he was a mediocre 60% completion guy. nobody is taking into account the lack of talent around him. now he has some talent around him the draftniks are reluctant to give him the benefit if doubt. its weird that having a shit load of film is more of liability than having 13 games of film. i mean if this was pickets first year of starting it would less detrimental to his draft stock. myself personally i like to see a guy making progress at the collegiate level. being able to compare what he is doing right this season to what he did wrong in the past should have value. you have a chance to see his growth and where he improved. the downside with picket is he is 24 yrs old already.

your draft can not be accurate. we dont have a 6th round pick... as of now it looks like we have i guess you could look at a 3rd comp as an early 4th and a 5th comp as an early 6th. so we dont have a 5th.
1 2 3 3 comp 5 comp 7 7 tankathon has us picking 15 46 77 97 177 224 230

Guessing Draft Network isn't quite up to date as of yet. I have been using their mock lately because it's so much easier to do their mock, screen cap the results, and post the pic on here rather than typing everything out. Basically I'm lazy...

im just bustin your balls man. but i dont think their player assessments are up to date either. we are like 5 games in to the college season but i dont think they are including what they have done thus far this year.. player rankings and draft stock should be changing weekly.

1. OL RG 2. OL best RT or LG available. 3. DL
We will have a young O-Line for years and can give a RB lanes and a QB time. A good solid running game sets up the passing game especially in Canada's offensive scheming.

Starkey was asked again about Pickett and possibility of other QBs in next year's draft:
The fact of the matter is that Pickett is rising on NFL draft boards and could be a very real possibility for the Steelers. Pro Football Network has him going 28th overall to the Lions, with Nevada’s Carson Strong going to the Steelers in the middle of the first round.
I do not think Pickett will rise to the top of the first round, as a recent Sports Illustrated mock draft suggested. Rather, I think it's likely the Steelers will have a shot at him, even in the second round.
Full article here: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/joe-starkey/2021/10/26/kenny-pickett-pittsburgh-steelers-heisman-trophy-nfl-mock-draft/stories/202110260090
It is possible that this could be like 2013. That was the last year that no QB went in the Top Ten of the 1st round. It is also possible that when all is said and done, in this QB-heavy league, at least 2 rise to the top 15 or top 10 by draft day. Time will tell.
Not sold on anyone yet but Malik Willis might be the best. Pickett might be 2nd. But we shall see.
IMO kenny pickett is the only one who might be NFL ready. he has been the most consistent this year out of the bunch. with that said i dont think he is top 10 material , but we know how teams reach for QB's. the games this year where malik willis threw the ball more than 20 times were his worst 2 games. i dont know what that says about him, but it says something. threw 3 picks in both games. keep in mind this is happening against small school competition.
yep..at this point picket is the only one i'd consider spending a 1st on. carson strong might be a second round consideration for me. dude threw it 61 times his last game with a 80.3% completion. 4 tds and 1 int.

Very true, but it could also be said that he's surrounded with small school talent as well. I'm not quite sold on him either, out of the available quarterbacks he's one of my favorites and while I can see a team picking him as high as the mid to late first round depending on how he finishes out this season, I don't think any team would be drafting him to come in and start right away by any means.
I am hearing Tomlin wants a veteran QB anyways. Lot of talk about Rodgers and even Russell Wilson going on but people love to talk without knowing all of the fine details behind trying to pick up guys like that.

The most likely options for next year are Tyrod Taylor and Jacoby Brissett. Both are FA and were coached by Canada in college.
