- Browns' no-huddle offense won't be a surprise to Steelers
By Mark Kaboly
They couldn't substitute. The communication was poor. There were missed tackles. They weren't gap sound. They were surprised by it.
The Steelers covered just about every excuse imaginable Wednesday as to why the Browns were so successful in the second half of the season opener with their up-tempo offense that produced 24 points in a little more than a quarter to erase the Steelers' 27-3 lead.
Still, as the Steelers opened Cleveland week, they dedicated an entire practice period to preparing for the hurry-up offense they had no answer for a month ago.
“This time,” defensive end Cam Heyward said, “we'll be ready.”
The Steelers were surprised when the Browns went to that style of offense Week 1. A combination of snapping the ball quickly, calling zone stretch running plays and using bootleg play-action passes off it resulted in something the Steelers couldn't stop.
“It definitely caught us by surprise,” linebacker Arthur Moats said.

- Well it's great that Shazier is STARTING to come back but I wouldn't expect to see him for another few weeks. Hopefully we get him back before the bye.
As much as I like Shazier (he may become my new Hines), I hope they give him time to really heal. I think that was part of the problem with the injuries last year. I'm a tad nervous about this game, but I think the Steelers will pull it off. I dislike them even more this year, but not because they are starting to climb the ranks. I knew I'd take an instant dislike to any team that drafted "Johnny Football", or wait, "Johnny Cleveland" _________________

| To answer my own question, I guess it's Heath. This is from 2012: - Quote :
- Steelers' Miller's new role? Fill-in QB
Heath Miller was a two-time all-state high school quarterback in Richmond, Va., and originally signed with Virginia to play that position. He switched to tight end as a freshman and has played there ever since.
He could have been forced back to his original position Monday night.
With Ben Roethlisberger out and Byron Leftwich the only other Steelers quarterback in uniform, Miller was the emergency QB against the Chiefs.

Hines used to be our emergency QB, but I don't recall ever reading that Heath now fills that role. Had to search. Too bad McCardinal isn't still here ... he knows everything. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| Redzone couldn't be more pathetic. This team has given up. Todd Haley sucks huge balls and stop taking it out of the end zone on kick offs. Ben looks bad too, but when you only throw the ball 7 times in the first half, how could you look good?? _________________ Win, Lose, or Tie, I'm a Steeler fan until I DIE!!! | |

Flame me....PLEASE...someone flame me! I have obviously lost my mind! He was right about a few things but his personality got in the way. We make a play here and there early on and mail in the rest. Piss poor play calling by Haley and on and on. Tomlin needs to jerk a few knots at halftime. We're better than this. It's painful to watch.

I have to agree. Cowher was a players coach but that look is missing on the sideline. The attitude too. I'm really beginnig to think Tomlin is way to soft on these guys.

| No teeth by the offense. Defense is now following suit. It's pathetic. I swear Ben doesn't even look like he is trying. _________________ Win, Lose, or Tie, I'm a Steeler fan until I DIE!!! | |

| I can't remember a Steeler team playing multiple games as poorly as these guys are playing. Not true. I can but I want to forget. These players just won't let any of us forget how bad they can stink it up. Granted Cleveland is not the old Browns but they shouldn't be bending us over and having their way either. Once again, blown coverages, no tackling and dropping balls that should be caught(Moore). Throw in Ben throwing shit passes behind guys or way out front. | |

Flame me....PLEASE...someone flame me! I have obviously lost my mind! Like Dave said ... McCardinal made some good points and was right about certain things. Too bad he was a huge douchebag. And while he was right about certain things, he certainly wasn't right about EVERYTHING. He thought he was though, and that made him act like an ass. I guarantee he's blaming Haley and LeBeau right now. This team has a lot more problems than just Haley and LeBeau. Anyone who thinks we're getting crushed simply because of the play calling is watching a different game than I am. While play calling is certainly an issue, that's far from our only problem. I've been saying it for a while now ... it's 1981 again. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.
